Kyra Harris
Kyra Harris is a Black Classical Bassoonist who performs mainly in the Los Angeles area. She has a background in performing different styles of music, including orchestral and chamber music. Harris performs as a form of representation for both the Black community and for others outside of the community. She hopes that when people see her perform, they realize that anyone can perform classical music, even people who look like her. Harris plans to have a long career in performance, education, and advocacy.

Biography
Kyra Harris, a Black classical bassoonist, is currently pursuing a post-graduate degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Before this, she obtained her Bachelor's of Music in Woodwind Performance- Concentration on Bassoon from California State University, Long Beach, and an Associate's of Music from Long Beach City College. She is a skilled musician with close to 20 years of experience in the music field. During these years, she has gained experience playing different styles of music, including orchestral, chamber, wind band, percussion ensembles, classical, and jazz choir. Harris has been highlighted in many different ways, from being a recipient of a Student Merit scholarship from the Osher Foundation at Long Beach City College, to the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music Student scholarship at the mentioned conservatory at California State University, Long Beach, and finally, the most recent being a tuition-based scholarship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Harris has sat in several different ensemble and has performed in many different venues some of them being; the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Crypto Arena (formerly known as the Staples Center), the Peakcock Theater (formerly known as the Nokia Theatre), the Hsi Lai Temple, the Huntington Library, the Cerritos Performing Arts Center, the Carpenter Performing Arts Center, and the Daniel Recital Hall. Harris looks forward to continuing a career in performance and would also love to delve into an educational and advocacy route within the field of music, both within and outside of the Black community.
